Dubrovnik West Harbor and Quay

Known for its picturesque location and historical importance, Dubrovnik’s Western Harbor has been one of the city’s most important entry points. Its short path to Pile Gate has made it an important transport and trade hub throughout the ages.

The Western Harbor has been strategically important in Dubrovnik’s history, providing access to the city from the sea. Its stone piers and traditional architecture reflect the city’s maritime history.

The western port is also known as one of the main filming locations in the popular TV series "Game of Thrones". The harbor represented Blackwater Bay in the series. A particularly memorable scene in Season 3, Episode 1, "Valar Dohaer," where Sansa Stark and Shae watched the ships from the dock while Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger) arrived to speak with Sansa. It was also the location of the epic Battle of Blackwater Bay and was used for several other scenes, including the scene where all of King Robert Baratheon’s illegitimate children were ordered to be killed.

Today, the western harbor is a popular tourist destination where visitors can stroll along the quays, enjoy views of the sea and the city, and feel the historical atmosphere. The western port has retained its picturesque charm and is an ideal location for both historical and contemporary photographs.

Dubrovnik’s Western Harbor is a perfect example of how history and pop culture meet, offering visitors the opportunity to experience both the city’s rich past and moments of modern entertainment.
