Buža gate

Buža Gate, also known as Vrata od Buže, is one of the most important entry points to the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Located in the northern part of the city, this gate provides access to the old city from several parts of the city.

Buža Gate is located from Iza Grada Street, providing convenient access for those who park their car in the Iza Grada area or approach the city from the direction of Ilijina Glavica or Kono. The gate leads down the stairs to Prijeko Street and further down the stairs to Stradun, the main promenade of the Old Town.

Buža Gate was opened as a city gate in the 1900s under the Austro-Hungarian Empire, making it one of the newer entrances to the Old Town. Its historical significance lies in the fact that it was part of a wider effort to modernize and make the city more accessible at the time.

The entrance through the Buža Gate is known for its difficulty, as there are many stairs along the route. This can be challenging for those looking for easier access to the heart of the old town. At the same time, the route with stairs offers beautiful views of the old town and the opportunity to enjoy the historical atmosphere of the town.

Buža Gate is a unique and historically important entrance to the Old Town of Dubrovnik, offering visitors the opportunity to experience the authentic look and atmosphere of the city. Although it can be a more physically demanding route, its historical and architectural value is worth the effort, especially for those who appreciate historic cities and their heritage.
